Frequently asked questions

What SNCF night train routes are available?

SNCF operates two Intercités de Nuit routes: Paris Austerlitz to Nice (departing 21:25, arriving 09:09, 12 hours) and Paris Austerlitz to Toulouse (departing 22:13, arriving 07:44, 10 hours). Both run daily.

Is the SNCF night train covered by Interrail?

Yes. An Interrail or Eurail Global Pass covers SNCF Intercités de Nuit services. You still need a couchette reservation (approximately €10–25) booked on SNCF Connect. The pass covers the base fare; the reservation covers your berth.

Does the Paris–Nice night train have couchettes?

Yes. SNCF Intercités de Nuit offer seats and couchettes (shared 6-berth compartments with pillow and blanket). There are no private sleeper cabins on these routes — the Nightjet Vienna–Nice would be the private cabin option on this corridor.

How do I book SNCF night train tickets?

Book at sncf-connect.com or the SNCF Connect app. Couchettes start from approximately €29 booked in advance. Prices rise closer to departure. Interrail pass holders book reservations at sncf-connect.com.

Why does the SNCF night train depart from Paris Austerlitz?

Paris Austerlitz is the historic terminus for overnight and regional trains heading south and southeast from Paris. Note: it's a different station from the main TGV hubs (Gare de Lyon, Montparnasse). Allow 30–45 minutes to transfer from other Paris stations by metro.
